There were a lot more great deals out there especially at the drugstores, but I opted to watch the parade with my 3 year old and then enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with my family then headed out a little after 8:00 on Friday. I purchased items I knew my family would use or we could give as gifts and refrained from stocking up on items that I can often get for free to avoid having too many rewards to spend before they expire.

Today was a day of printing, clipping and organizing coupons in between keeping up with my two year old! I am so thankful that I invested in a wireless laser printer toward the end of last year; it has saved me so much time, effort and money already. This morning I printed off a big stack of coupons ( see photo) and plan to use most of them this week. The total face value of the coupons I printed was $152 !!! I may not make it to the stores for a few days because of the impending rain, but when I do, I will be prepared.

Some days I am a crazy shopper and other days I have to step back and smell the roses so to speak. After having snow for several weeks in a row, we are expecting beautiful weather for the next few days. My 2 year old, Lorelai has been a little under the weather and out of sorts and I just really felt the need for us to have some fun today. After my weekly Bible Study ( she got to play in the nursery), we ran by Target to pick up a few things and checked out the baby dolls and Disney princess toys. She has her little routine and we have to make the Princess display sing all the songs and push the button on Mirror, Mirror on the wall.

When you are a "smart shopper" like me, you sometimes do things that raise a few eyebrows. I often share stories of my shopping trips with friends and family and they are amazed how much money I save and also the quantity of items that I purchase for my family of three. Although I am by no means a hoarder and actually donate many of the items that I get for free, this smart shopper knows that when the price is right it's time to stock up!

Earlier this week, I purchased six twelve-packs of Pepsi products at CVS. As part of that store's loyalty program, I paid $20.00 for the drinks and received a $10.00 reward good for my next purchase, making each twelve-pack about $1.66. My husband works long hours and is a total Pepsi addict, so I decided I would stop by in a few days and purchase some more using his card and my mom's card since she wasn't going to take advantage of this particular deal.

What a great shopping day at Rite Aid! After checking the sales and planning out my "attack", I loaded up my cart with Special K cereal, Stayfree pads, Tylenol Precise pain patches ( a new product) and Sharpies. When the time came to check out, I handed over my coupons. With buy one, get one free coupons for the Special K and Stayfree and coupons for the pain patches, I ended up paying only $19.19 (after receiving rewards to be used for future purchases) for what would have cost $134.56 originally . That's over 85% savings!  The associate who was ringing me up, called someone over to look at my receipt with all my $1 - $5 rewards printed on the bottom and said he had never seen so many print out at once! Knowledge is power.
